The Kim Eco Lab received a USDA Foundational grant to examine the environmental, economic, and social dimensions of double cropping in KS agroecosystems. This project is in collaboration with Agronomy (Deann Presley, Rachel Cott), Ag. Economics (Beth Yeager), and Ag. Communications (Katie Starzec). While the benefits and challenges of DC have been examined in small plots and with biophysical models, this project will be entirely conducted on working farms and involve farmer input. This is a large scale field project aimed to disentangle how climate variables such as temperature and precipitation impact possible environmental and economic trade offs with double cropping.
